As I hear a once strong woman now struggle with the possibility of death, I am moved to do something outside my reach – have more faith. My heart breaks for my mother as she tries to manage her failing health and reconcile her faith with her reality. Looking at the world through the lens of a woman must be something. I am sitting here covered with a blanket because I feel cold after turning on my AC for 10 minutes at 70 degrees. It’s 93 degrees outside but it feels like 97 which is just a smidgen hot for me. Anyone who knows me has never heard me say I am too hot.
12 Must-Read Christian Blogs for Women
New research conducted in partnership with a large UK church has revealed some shocking findings about Christian dating culture. Samuel Verbi explains. Already half an hour over our minute interview, I was once again at a loss for an answer. In a church culture where marriage to another Christian is seen as the best and often only option, but with a ratio of single women to men, the situation for women like Rebecca can be problematic. But while our solutions have typically been to ignore this conundrum, or to bury ourselves in the latest dating self-help books, we have yet to look at this issue objectively.
Now, I have to warn you… this list is totally biased. Rather, these are the top 12 Christian blogs for women that I personally love and read myself on a regular basis. All of these Christian women blogs are written by reputable, well-known Christian female bloggers who have been around for a while, so their advice is solid and trustworthy. Articles on this site are very useful and encouraging in nature, and often center around living out your faith, diving deeper into the Word of God, and parenting your children well. Written by Christian sex and marriage expert Sheila Wray Gregoire, To Love Honor and Vacuum is one of my favorite Christian blogs for women devoted to helping Christian women develop rock-solid marriages.
While the site does include some parenting content, Sheila mostly writes about marriage and sex within marriage, giving all the advice Christian wives need to know but are afraid to ask. Her blog, A Mother Far From Home , offers a wealth of incredibly useful tips, tricks and suggestions to help Christian mums raise great kids without losing their sanity in the process — all from someone who has been there who totally gets it.
You can have a peaceful, loving home without the chaos, and this site will show you how.

A few weeks ago I wrote a short blog asking how we can better support single women in church, especially those over the age of I was deluged with responses, and it became clear to me that we are not doing a good job in this area. I am now at the age where I understand why. I think people just don’t think about them, which makes them feel invisible or unwanted because they are in the minority.
It is awful. It is painful watching friends greet each other and give out invites and be all happy and together. No one finds me sexy. No one wants my love. No one one wants to know everything about me. No one wants to share their deepest needs with me. No one is there to help me out when I need it. No one is there to share the pain of being childless.
No one to express my sexuality with, and believe me, I am about to explode from sexual desire. This is only a brief selection from well over comments.

Sometimes advice such as being celibate can be hard to hear because we live in a world where it is so easy to do what you want to do good or bad and no one sees anything wrong with it.

Being a single woman who has never been married and over the age of 40 puts me in a category all my own most days. I am more aware of it with each passing year. I still want to marry, but my attitude about marriage has evolved over the years. When I was young I thought of it as a duty or a job where I would have the responsibility of keeping a man and a family in line! Now I think of it as the opportunity to be a good partner and companion and I long for that.
The idea of being open to raising a family has faded. I have always tried to fill my life with things I enjoy and serving God through my work and my church. Yet there still seems to be that notion at the back of my mind that somehow someone is meant to be my husband or partner. God made me that way, and I believe he will meet that need.

Imagine keeping a lion in a small cat carrier for years. Day after day, night after night, he roars, he eats a lot. His energy is endless, and yet you keep him caged. Sometimes my physical drives were so strong, I despaired—the long, intense fight for purity in a sexually-saturated culture seemed impossible. Was I part man, or was this normal for women? So why wasn’t anyone talking about it?

Poor literacy means that few are able to read their bibles or Christian books. This is especially true for those trapped in poverty where, for too many, a proper education is not available. Women tend to spend time with their families, siblings and friends rather than with those from their church. Prayer triplets or duos are hard because people find it difficult to trust one another and share their lives intimately. Material needs can be very great.
This can lead to sin and a turning away from the church. Lack of funds can make it harder to socialise with other Christian women. Single women often find themselves stigmatised painfully by society. Financial difficulties may mean single women can feel pressured to marry anyone provided he is wealthy. Many married women have to put up with husbands who have other women. Others are not given adequate financial support from their husbands. Married women often struggle to balance ministry and family life.
